What is Pashmina?

but what is Pashmina?

I'm so glad you asked! Pashmina is a fine natural cashmere wool fiber, from the changthangi or Pashmina goat. These goats are from the Himalayan mountain regions of Pakistan, Nepal, and India. The Pashmina fiber is hand spun from the wool of these goats, and woven into fabric that has become very popular for scarves and wraps. For added softness, often the Pashmina fiber is blended with silk, making a very durable and comfortable accessory. When purchasing a Pashmina wrap, make sure you have at least 40 to 70 percent Pashmina wool. The higher the Pashmina content, the heavier the fabric. There are many fake pashmina shawls sold that are really acrylic or viscose - which are nice accessories, just not true Pashminas. One trend in scarf fashions is to wear leaves on your scarf. I have a couple of scarves and really stand out in that area. One of my favorites is an oblong scarf found at Scarves and More.Net, on this page. It is one of the prettiest fall scarves I have seen yet, and it goes with not only brown and tans, but black too. Add the fact that it is hand washable satin, and it's a winner in my book anyday!

While I am always sad to see summer go, one thing makes me really happy: Fall is scarf time! All those wonderful accessories make a comeback when the temps drop.

This Fall is no exception!

The scarf fashions this year are better than ever!

I particularly love the browns and tans this time of year. One of my favorite new designs, shown at left, is a 42" square satin scarf that you can find at Scarves and More.net.

I have another new favorite of the satin square scarves, (shown at right) and it has some fresh colors, including peach! The olive colored border is magnificent. It just shouts of changing colors of Autumn. This one is a winner for sure!

West Germany Scarf Clips make a comeback!

In the world of fashion, you never know what is going to make a comeback. It seems that something makes a big hit, then it goes away for a while, but if it is truly a classic item, it will often make a new entry into the fashion world. That has been the way scarf clips have done. Right now, West Germany clips are all the rage, and a few items you can find at Scarves and More.net will show you why!

My favorite of the West Germany clips is this pretty silver and mother-of pearl clip. What I like about this style of clip, is that it has a hinged ring on the back, and it slides onto my scarf so easily. I have no knots to mess with, and it stays put! A cool new Scarf for Fall!

Wow! I miss summer already. But I am ready to get out my scarves, and this one is wonderful! I just found it, and I am stocking up. It has an amazing open weave, and it has gray and brown in it, so it will go with everything! I love my gray coat from '08, but I have an amazing khaki jacket. This scarf will go with both! The cool thing about this scarf is that it isn't heavy, like a lot of yarn scarves are. The weave is loose and airy, so the scarf isn't weighty. I think this one is going to be a winner!

New Scarf Fashions for 2009

Well, I did it!
I finally started a blog! This is going to be fun, I can share my excitement over all the new scarf fashions.
First I want to tell you about my favorite summer scarf. It is lightweight fringed rayon, with an animal print. It comes in purple, brown, teal and my personal favorite, green.

Many of my friends like the teal best, my daughter likes the purple. I guess my green eyes draw me to the green one.

One of the most popular scarves around these days is the Shemagh scarf, which is a big square black and white houndstooth checkered scarf with fringe.
